Shavuot (Eng. ‘weeks’) is a Jewish harvest festival. It its dated to the time in the year when the first wheat is harvested in Israel.
During the scholarship period in Kaisitz in east of Germany, it was the harvest time in the surrounding fields.
The local harvest festival that follows is very similar to the Shavuot festival in Israel.
The wheat, which with I worked, is a symbol as well for the Jewish festivals of Shawuot and and the German Erntedank.
